There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
For John was not yet cast into prison.
Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying.
And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.
John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
He must increase, but I must decrease.
He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.
He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.
For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

  尼哥德慕 

  约 3:1> 位高岂可轻易下问,我自己去解决好了──你看到尼哥德慕如何行吗? 

  3:1 耶稣的教训削弱了宗教领袖的权威,挑战他们的观念,故此,大多数法利赛人都很妒忌耶稣。尼哥德慕是法利赛人,也是公会的成员,他探求真理,相信耶稣可以给他答案。他虽是一个博学的经学教师,仍前来求教。不管你多么聪明、受过多么高深的教育,都必须要打开心灵来到耶稣面前,让祂用真理教导你。 

  约 3:1-21> 你说你想追求真理,你说你要看看究竟有没有神,你想你在这里只管说就成了吗? 

  3:1-21 尼哥德慕可能怕受到其他法利赛人质问,因此到了晚上才来找耶稣。后来,当他认识到耶稣是真正的弥赛亚,便勇敢地为祂辩护( 7:50-51 )。我们应学效他,亲自去追求认识耶稣。倘若我们相信耶稣如祂自己所讲的一样,那就应该为祂作见证。 

  论重生 

  约 3:3> 重生──一个革命性的观念,在挑战尼哥德慕,也在挑战你,你可接受? 

  3:3 尼哥德慕对神国的认识有多深?他从圣经得知这国将由神统治,且在地上实现,神的子民住在其中。耶稣告诉这位虔诚的法利赛人,神的国不只是临到犹太人,还会临到整个世界( 3:16 );祂又告诉他,除非他重生( 3:5 ),否则不能进入神的国。这实在是一个革命性的观念:神的国是个人的,而不是国家或民族性的,进入这个国的条件是悔改和重生。耶稣后来也说,神的国已经透过圣灵临到信徒的心中(参路 17:21 ),当祂再来审判世界,灭绝一切罪恶后,神的国就会完全实现了(参启 21-22 章)。 

  约 3:5-6> 从水和圣灵生的,前者容易,后者就……耶稣此话何解? 

  3:5-6 “从水和圣灵生的”可以指( 1 )肉体的诞生(水)与灵性的诞生(圣灵)两者的对比;或( 2 )藉圣灵获得的新生命,并透过洗礼显明这种重生,水亦可代表圣灵清洗洁净的工作(参多 3:5 )。 

  约 3:8> 从灵生的如风之出之没,祂说;我却不太理解,你可知道其中原委? 

  3:8 耶稣解释说,我们不能控制圣灵的工作,圣灵行事是不可预知或理解的,正如你不能控制自己身体的诞生一样,你也不能控制自己灵性的新生,这是神藉着圣灵赐给人的礼物(参罗 8:16 ;林前 2:10-12 ;帖前 1:5-6 )。 

  约 3:10-11> 认识圣经,却不认识祂,我总是如此,不知怎办…… 

  3:10-11 这位犹太教师熟读经典,却不明白当中讲论弥赛亚的一切。知识并不是救赎,你需要认识圣经,但更重要的是要了解圣经所启示的神,和祂赐予的救赎。 

  约 3:14-15> 只要我说我信,神就会帮助我?是这样简单吗?我还是有点担心…… 

  3:14-15 以色列在旷野飘流时,神以火蛇惩罚那些叛逆的子民,被蛇咬快要死的人,若稍稍听从神的话,仰望高举的铜蛇,相信神会医治他们,就能得医治(参民 21:8-9 )。同样,当我们仰望耶稣,相信祂会拯救我们,我们就得着拯救。这就是神为我们预备救我们脱离罪恶捆绑的方法。 

  约 3:16> 一句差不多熟透的经文,倒过来你也许会背吧,除了熟悉外,还有…… 

  3:16 这节经文突出了整个福音的重点──神的爱。真正的爱不是自私的,也不是只讲而不行动的,真正的爱是要传出去的,并以爱激发别人的爱心。神的爱就是真爱的典范,也是所有爱的基础。神付上最大的代价,以祂儿子的生命作为我们赦罪的赎价,使我们得到新生命,正显明祂的爱何等伟大。我们与别人分享福音时,也要效法这样的真爱,愿意牺牲,付上代价,好使别人也一同领受神的爱。 

  约 3:16> 现今世界多痛苦,要我永世面对,我不太想──如果永生是如此…… 

  3:16 “永生”并不是延续这痛苦、会朽坏的生命,乃是活到永远的保证,神藉耶稣把祂的生命赐给信徒,叫他们永远与祂同在。 

  约 3:16> 相信耶稣?是的我相信;好,再问你一次,你怎样“相信”祂? 

  3:16 “相信”不单是理智上承认耶稣是神,乃是要信靠祂,承认惟有祂才可以拯救我们,让基督掌管我们一生。若你从未信靠耶稣,盼望你今天就相信并得着这永恒的生命。 

  约 3:18> 考考你的智慧,人要做什么才可以得救?是不是很简单呢? 

  3:18 很多人常常以为自己行善积德、满有才智、拥有财富,就可以得到保障,不必再惧怕什么。其实真正要惧怕的只有一件事──永远的刑罚,只有神才可以拯救我们脱离这个刑罚。我们要承认自己的缺欠,不能靠自己的努力而得到拯救,惟有求神在我们心里工作,使我们相信祂的救赎。耶稣所说的不信的人,是指那些完全拒绝或忽视祂的人,而不是一时怀疑祂的人。 

  约 3:19-21> 有人在神面前可以坦然无惧,有人害怕面对;现在机会就在面前,你的回应呢? 

  3:19-21 很多人不愿意自己的生命被神光照,害怕暴露本相,不愿意改变。当你渴慕顺服神,行事端正,而令这些人感到受威胁时,你不用诧异,因为他们惧怕你心里的光会把他们生命的黑暗面暴露出来。与其感到沮丧,何不为他们祷告,祈求他们有一天能认清活在光明中比活在黑暗中好得多。 

  约 3:25-30> 有时我们总会和人争辩到底,为的是保护我们的信仰;你看施洗约翰如何回应人的挑剔? 

  3:25-30 有人专门挑剔,希望播下纷争、不满和怀疑的种子;施洗约翰强调自己委身基督,结束了这场神学上的争论。强迫别人相信自己只会带来纷争,相反,让我们见证基督为我们所做的一切,表明对基督的委身,这样何人能驳斥我们呢? 

  约 3:26> 看见别人成功,心有不甘?酸溜溜?好像约翰的门徒一般,看带人信主是一项比赛吗? 

  3:26 施洗约翰的门徒看见群众跟随耶稣而不跟从约翰,心有不甘。我们看到别人成功地领人信主,也可能会忌妒,但要切记,我们真正的使命是使别人跟随基督,而不是跟随我们。 

  约 3:31-35> 耶稣?何许人也?我想查探一下,你可以告诉我吗? 

  3:31-35 耶稣的见证是最可靠的,祂从神而来,祂的话就是神的话。你如何回答“耶稣基督是谁?”这问题正好反映你整个属灵生命的境况。耶稣自称是神的儿子甚至是神自己,如果你只接受耶稣是一位先知或教师,那么,就已拒绝接受祂的教训了。约翰福音的中心就是指明耶稣基督是神的儿子、是弥赛亚、是救主这永恒不变的真理。当我们明白耶稣真正的身分,便自然会相信并接受祂所说的话。 

  约 3:36> 永生,不是死后才有的吗? 

  3:36 耶稣说,相信祂的“就有永生”,而不是“会有永生”。接受永生就是进入神永远的生命中去。所以,自我们灵性上获得重生的一刹那,便开始了永生。接受永生就是把自己的生命与神永恒的生命联结起来。 

  约 3:36> 人生重要的抉择,考哪间大学?买屋?结婚?约翰所说的是…… 

  3:36 作者约翰一再阐明耶稣就是神的儿子,祂把生命中最重大的抉择放在我们面前,今天我们有责任选择顺从谁(参书 24:15 ),神希望我们选择祂和生命(参申 30:15-20 )。我们放弃选择,其实是选择不跟随基督,犹疑不决是致命的决定! ──《灵修版圣经注释》
